However when I did the hold "D" key down while pressing start then the built in display appeared to work properly. I could change it to the built in display but with the same results. When I tried to boot to safe mode it first booted to the monitor but then the same thing. System restore was applied to before the problem started but that did not change anything. No updates of programs were installed when the problem started. ![]() From there I was able to changed the settings to get it to use the built in display but the screen is only 3/4 of the way across and then a small space and the left hand side of the screen is duplicated on the right hand side of the display. The external monitor shows a normal desktop. When I brought it home I first hooked it to a monitor and it showed the windows select operating system screen.
